GT Specialist-Leanne Johnson E-mail: jjohnson3@sdale.org I attended UCA and received my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Ed. I attended UALR and received my Masters in Gifted and Talented. I started my teaching experience in Pulaski County Special School District, and worked there for 16 years. I was able to work in GT at different elementary schools throughout the district. I was asked to work at College Station Elementary, which is the districts Gifted Specialty School, and I was the GT Math Facilitator there for 3 years. This is my second year teaching in Springdale School District.

Mrs. Johnson divides her time between Bayyari Elementary and Hunt Elementary. 1st Semester GT 2nd Grade: Students will get an overview of activities related to creativity. Students will gain a better understanding of Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration, with activities related to each area. Students will work through these activities independently, and in groups, to better understand group planning, collaboration and work.
3rd Grade: "Around the World in 90 Days" Students will visit 3 places in the world, Greece, Rome/Italy, and Mexico/Mayan civilizations. We will discover their life and culture, develop masterpieces in art, examine their mathematical systems, try games and activities from each country and much, much more. Students will get to meet people that have visited these places, and see items from these countries.
4th Grade: "Logics and Mysteries" First students will dive into The Great Honey Robbery where they must use critical thinking, deductive reasoning, analytical thinking, the process of elimination, using timelines, and logic puzzles to solve what has happened to the crocks of honey. Students will also learn about honeybees, and the process to make honey. Students will have guest speakers dealing with honey and detective work. After that mystery, the students will jump into The Great Chocolate Caper, where students will develop deductive thinking to solve the variety of logic problems. Students will also learn about chocolate, its origin, and they will make their own chocolate bars. Students will have guest speakers dealing with chocolate and detective work. 4th Graders will also be reading a variety of books for a GT Book Bowl to be held in January.
5th Grade: Students will memorize, act, and perform "Twelfth Night" along
with students from Hunt, Young, Turnbow, and Parson Hills Elementary Schools.
The five schools will each perform an act, and will present the entire play.
