Chester with Ms. Brown and Mrs.
Clough
Our counseling staff this year includes:
Ms. Jan Brown with Chester,
professional therapy dog;
Mrs. Lisa Clough (on Thursday
afternoons and Friday); and
Mrs. Karen Harris, Ozark Guidance
school-based therapist.
"I am Jan
Brown, School Counselor at Bayyari Elementary
School,
and I love my work!
What do
elementary school counselors do? School
counselors help students with their academic, personal/social
and
career development so that they can be successful in
school
and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible
members
of society."
Our
school counselors give classroom guidance lessons
to every
classroom and teach students about social skills and
conflict
resolution. They meet with small groups and see
students
individually. They are available to conference with
parents
and consult with teachers.

Bayyari
Ambassadors
The
Bayyari Ambassador Program helps new students feel welcome
and provides a friendly, caring atmosphere in our
school.
Each homeroom teacher selects two students, one boy and one
girl to become Ambassadors. They are chosen for
good
character qualities such as kindness, honesty, friendliness,
dependability, and being a good listener.
Ambassadors meet with Ms. Jan Brown, School Counselor, for
training sessions in introductions, welcoming skills and other
social
skills. Job responsibilities for Ambassadors include greeting
new students and helping them feel welcome; helping
new
students learn rules and procedures in the classroom,
lunchroom, playground, and special areas; and welcoming
families
and visitors during special school events. Becoming an
Ambassador is a special honor and an opportunity to
develop
leadership qualities.
We are
happy to be a part of the team at Bayyari Elementary, where we:
"Work
and serve. Learn and grow. And
have fun along the way.”
