Two character traits are introduced each month at the Bayyari
Bear Bash Assemblies. All month long, the students practice
these traits and earn the chance to win awards and prizes
at the next month's assembly.
August/September-Self-Discipline/Responsibility
Self-Discipline: Exercising control over one's own emotions and actions
Responsibility: To be accountable for my behavior
October-Cooperation/Initiative
Cooperation: Getting along with others and working together
Initiative: Take responsible action on your own without prompting from others
November-Thankfulness/Humility
Thankfulness: Being grateful and saying so
Humility: Modesty; absence of self-pride
December-Generosity/Empathy
Generosity: An unselfish attitude; willing to share with others
Empathy: Feeling for another's need and helping that one without expecting anything in return
January-Patience/Compassion
Patience: Waiting with a happy spirit
Compassion: Feeling for another's need and helping that one without expecting anything in return
February-Honesty/Integrity
Honesty: Truthful words and ways
Integrity: Confirmed virtue and uprightness of character
March-Courtesy/Thoughtfulness
Courtesy: The act of kindness and civility
Thoughtfulness: Consideration of others; courtesy
April-Perseverance/Determination
Perseverance: Continue to work hard and persist toward the goal even when obstacles and difficulties arise
Determination: To continue on, regardless of the circumstances
May-Respect/Self-Control
Respect: A high or special regard; honor one another
Self-Control: Doing something even when I do not feel like it
June-Modesty
Modesty: The act of being reserved and humble in speech, dress, or behavior
July-Trustworthiness
Trustworthiness: Worthy of trust or confidence; faithful; reliable
August-Dependability
Dependability: Trustworthy to do what I say I will do
