In August 2004 Bayyari Elementary opened at capacity with over 650 students. This diverse group of students quickly embraced being “Bayyari Bears” and began a new learning community in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility in northwest Springdale. Bayyari staff members worked diligently to create curriculum and programs for the new school. The Arkansas Comprehensive School Reform Model is utilized in grades one through three. This partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock uses balanced literacy strategies, literacy coaching and Reading Recovery to provide a strong literacy base with early intervention if needed. After-school tutoring and Benchmark Days allow students to receive additional help and target needed skills for maximum achievement. Students set learning goals for themselves each quarter, and during spring parent/teacher conferences students are included as participants as they report on their own academic goals and progress. Parents and community are an integral part of Bayyari Elementary. We have a very active PTA organization, with Safegate Mom and Watchdog Dad programs in place. Local firefighters mentor students weekly and provide positive community role models. A bilingual Americorp volunteer provides translation services for families, English classes for parents. At Bayyari Elementary, learning is just as diverse as our community. “Work and Serve, Learn and Grow, Have Fun Along the Way” – our motto says it all. All of us at Bayyari Elementary believe in a stimulating and enjoyable academic environment where all can achieve! Fadil Bayyari
Our school is named for a very generous man who donated land to the Springdale School District. Mr. Bayyari was born in Palestine March 22, 1952. He immigrated to the United States 33 years ago to escape the Israeli-Palestinian turmoil and begin a new life in America. Mr. Bayyari settled in North West Arkansas in 1980 and established a career in construction and real estate development. He has two daughters, one son, and one grandson. "I have deep love and respect for people of all walks of life and above all, I thank God for the privilege and honor of being part of this community and this country.”
